Update Friday, April 5th, 2013
The emergency surgery that Ben went through yesterday seems to be helping a lot. Ben rested well all of last night, and his vital signs are all excellent. He has been able to move some--to cough involuntarily, to move his arms and legs when in pain, to have his pupils constrict when a light is shone in them, and he now has some electrodes to monitor activity in his brain, and those are showing good progress. He's still in that "first-72 hour" danger zone, but we're feeling good today. Yesterday at this time, I really didn't think he'd make it through the day. So we're very hopeful today.
