It has been a week now since Ben fell off of his longboard and went into a coma. Mary is at the hospital watching over him, while I work in Hollywood.
Ben got the sensor taken out of his head today, the one that measures the pressure of his brain fluid.
We're getting mixed messages on his condition. When they put the feeding tube down his throat, he will choke a bit, or vomit, and he will throw his arms up and kick. One nurse told my wife that that was a good sign, while the other felt it was all involuntary and that Ben is in a "dark, dark, place." Those are the words that one of the doctors used a few days ago, too. So Mary is worried that Ben will never regain consciousness.
He did get an MRI today, which should show his brain damage more clearly, and I'm supposed to talk to his doctors tomorrow.
I hate giving this kind of news, but I also want to be honest.
